Gold Tipped Feather Tutorial

I've received many comments and emails about the gold tipped feather on this card
so I thought I'd share the steps on how you can make them, too.
I was going to do a video but I don't like the sound of my voice,
so hopefully, these photos will do.

After die cutting the feather, tap Versamark ink on the tip.
Generously on the very tip and lightly as you go further down.
Run the pad along the edge of the feather's tip, too.

Sprinkle on the embossing powder quite heavily.

Using your fingers, sprinkle some powder lightly below the feather's tip.

Heat emboss and it's done.

As you can see, no two feathers are exactly alike.
Repeat the process, if you like, which will give a thicker embossing.

Pretty soon you'll be gold embossing everything in sight--it's quite addictive!

Lastly, my thanks to CASology (and Tracey!) for choosing my card
as last week's GOLD winner. All that gold embossing paid off!

Beat the Heat with Penny Black

I'm joining the Beat the Heat challenge over at Penny Black using some goodies
that I won last month just for leaving a comment!

I chose Life's Messages, a cling set with some awesome "words to live by"
and a new flower die called Bashful. And here's my card.

I chose one set of messages and white embossed it on a notebook die,
then ink distressed it in ombré fashion and water spritzed it.

The flower was cut from two colors of card stock and ink distressed.
Some white dots were added for a bit of texture and everything was adhered
to a woodgrain embossed card.

Thanks, always, for stopping by!

CASology GOLD & Giveaway Winner

This week's cue word at CASology is GOLD.
Here's my take on the word.

After pouncing the tip of the feather with Versamark ink, I heat embossed
it with gold embossing powder. I love how it turned out!

It was difficult to photograph the "goldness" but IRL it looks fabulous!
Hence, the sentiment. To finish off the card, I tied some gold thread on the feather's quill.

CAS(E) this Sketch 38

CAS(E) this Sketch 38 is this fun one by Chrissy.

And here's my inky take on it.

I completely rotated the sketch and used Hero Arts' Brush Strokes stamp set.
The longest brush stroke was inked with Mid Tone inks and I added
a few splats for interest. The sentiment--my favorite!--is by Paper Smooches.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of the team interpreted the sketch
and play along with us. You have until Thursday, August 1st to link up your card.

Thanks, always, for stopping by!
